As a Professional Geoscientist and graduate of the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College London, Andrew has worked extensively in the exploration and mining industry from the rock face to the boardroom and into the halls of Government.
Andrew’s 25-plus-year career has encompassed both the senior and junior mining sectors as an exploration geologist, mine geologist, manager and mining executive. He has also volunteered with not-for-profit organizations, notably as past-president of the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario. Prior to his role at PDAC, Andrew was President and Chief Executive Officer, Director at Unigold Inc., where he oversaw the delivery of the company’s initial mineral resource of two million ounces of gold at its flagship property in the Dominican Republic, and successfully partnered the project with the International Finance Corporation (a division of the World Bank).
His career started as a deep-level gold mine geologist in South Africa. He subsequently worked as Vice President Exploration at Treasury Metals Inc., Principal Geologist at AMEC plc, Chief Geologist at Goldcorp Inc./Placer Dome Inc., and Mineral Resource Manager with Anglo American Corporation. Andrew has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geology from the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College London, and a Master of Business Administration from Capella University. Andrew has built a strong reputation as an advocate for a responsible minerals industry—an industry that he believes has the ability to build prosperous communities and develop nations.
