Sebastian Jarrin joined CIRDI as a Researcher in January 2018 for the “Education and Research for Integrated Water Resources Management in Peru” project, and he was appointed as a Program Officer in July 2019 for the Supporting the Ministry of Mines (SUMM) Ethiopia. Prior to joining CIRDI, Sebastian worked for six years on the Extractive Industries Program of an Ecuadorian think tank Grupo FARO, where he gained a deeper understanding of the particular challenges of resource governance and public policies in Ecuador and the Andean region.

Sebastian has a decade of professional experience managing projects linked with resource governance and public policy, where he has worked with multiple stakeholders including national and local government representatives, grassroots communities, and international donors like Global Affairs Canada. His work and research interests focus on looking for new paradigms related to the relationship between societies and the utilization of natural resources. Sebastian holds a Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs degree from the University of British Columbia, and a B.A in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.
